About WCMA
The Western Canada Motorsport
Association (WCMA )is a not for profit society, incorporated in the Province
of Alberta. WCMA has been delegated responsibility for amateur motorsport in
our territory of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba by ASN
Canada FIA Inc.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of the Western Canada Motorsport Association (WCMA) are
as follows:
the promotion of education in the area of the skillled and safe operation of
motor vehicles, through encouragement of participation in motorsport events.
the promotion of the public participation in motorsport events.
the promotion of education in the area of the efficient and safe operation of
motorsport events generally.
the promotion of public awareness of the existence and benefits associated with
motorsport in Canada in general and in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in
particular.
the promotion of scientific research in the area of motorsport and its contribution
to the design of motor vehicles generally.
the promotion of any object ancillary to the foregoing objects.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and issue general
and competition rules and regulations for race, solo, ice race, vintage events to all competitors, officials, organizers, promoters, clubs and sponsors.
Inspect all tracks at least once a year for overall safety.
Issue all track permits for those tracks approved by WCMA.
Issue all events permits for those events approved by WCMA.
Approve competition driving schools for those individuals interested in competing
and requiring a competition license.
Issue all competition licenses to competitors and officials upon successful
completion of an approved competition or race official school.
Ensure all events are deemed safe (to the best of our ability).
Ensure all events are deemed fair competitions (to the best of our ability).
Handle any and all protests and/or grievances according to the rules and regulations
in place.
Declare class champions every year for all its competitions.
Promote motorsport as a fun and family oriented sport and encourage participation
of all those interested in motorsport.
