By now many of WCMA’s competition license holders have heard the news that Gail Terner after 37 years in motorsport’s Executive positions is officially stepping down as WCMA’s Licensing Supervisor. Gail and few others have been the back bone and have been instrumental in maintaining and promoting amateur and professional motorsport activity in the Prairie Provinces. Without Gail I have no idea where the sport would have disappeared to. Gail has issued licenses the proper and traditional way via mail and eventually electronically, but she also accepted last minute applications at events or a knock on the door to issue licenses. I remembering going to Gail’s home in 1981 to get my first license. Gail has been in a position to have met, talked to and most often positively influenced 1000s of young & old who wish to become amateur or professional race car drivers.
We will never be able to find someone to fully fill Gail’s commitment and passion for the sport. This is a tough and sad announcement.
