As most of you may know SASC offers Winter Driver Training for the general public each year and we hope to educate as many people as possible about car control in winter (actually all) conditions as a public service.

We have had people from as far away as Vancouver come to take these courses.

Currently we are hosting these events at the YYC/Budget lot near the Calgary airport (same place as the solo events in summer).  The venue has turned out to be better than expected and I figure better than Ghost Lake for a number of reasons (clean washrooms right there, less chance of slipping and falling, much closer to the city/in the city, lots of restaurants close by, and even more seat time due to proximity of the hotel, city etc).  In fact, in the end, I think TransAlta did us a favour now ...  We have had a couple of schools there already and they have worked out every bit as well as Ghost Lake .... Oh, and no snow drifts to damage your car!!!!

Anyway, the next one is this coming Sunday, Feb. 11 and there is promise of much snow and since the lot is unused except by us and other such uses, the snow stays a lot longer than regular roads and lots.

If you know anyone interested or could use a winter driving school, please let them know ... spread the word - thanks!

Other ones scheduled are for Feb. 25 and March 4 although lack of snow can begin to be an issue as spring draws nigh!
