So I just got back from the first ever ChumpCar race in Portland at PIR. All I can say is the entire event, the quality of the cars, driving and people totally exceeded my expectations. PIR is unreal. The scenery, facilities (running water and power on discrete breakers at every site). The paving....wow...I was driving a stint in the fog and trying to feel some dips and cracks to act as marker...there are none!

What started out as a bit of a joke and a cheap way to get to drive Portland exceeded my expectations and I am already planning the next event at Infineon in January.

Oh yeah the $250K+ toterhomes and race car trailers hauling $500 crap-cans were pretty funny too.

Loads of fun, there is something very cool about racing at 3am. Hard to explain, all alone in the dark driving on the edge...once you settle into a rhythm it is a thing of beauty.

At the 24hr mark 34 or 35 of 40 cars were still running. Pretty incredible.
