For Sale: 1984 Mazda Rx-7 #35 Challenge Car
$5500.00 SOLD• This car is a proven WCMA and ARCA overall championship winning car. One race owner and meticulously maintained. I figured the easiest way to list the improvements and modifications to the car was to go through the Challenge Car Regulations list (provided in the 2013 WCMA Technical Race Regulations) and show what I have done (basically the maximum allowed for a Spec Car of this class).
1. Make of Car
a. 1984 Mazda Rx-7 (84-85 had bigger front spindles – favored years for a chassis)
2. Body
a. Interior is gutted, dash is intact, with custom Autometer gauge placements
i. 5inch Autometer Tachometer with customizable RPM shift light
ii. 2 1/16inch Autometer Water Temp
iii. 2 1/16inch Autometer Oil Pressure
iv. 2 1/16inch Autometer Voltage
v. Wiper Switch & Fan Switch & Rain Light Switch
b. Doors are gutted with Tin Covers
c. Driver side window netting, passenger glass is permanently mounted
d. Sparco Racing Seat on Sliders
e. Driver side window netting installed
f. Full Roll Cage installed
g. SA Belt 5-Point racing harness (Cannot recall the FIA year stamp at this time…)
h. Tenzo Racing wheel (not removable)
i. Stock Front Bumper (With direct ducting to air box)
j. No fiberglass panels
k. No fender openings were necessary
l. Stock Mirrors with blindspot convex additions
m. Headlights and motors removed, stock covers in place via rivets and brackets

a. Camber plates installed on aluminum front strut perches
b. Original bushings EXCEPT on the new front control arms.
c. Front bolt on tower brace installed
d. Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks front and back
e. Stock Suspension arms
f. Stock front anti-sway bar, rear sway removed (ideal for these cars)
g. Front coils overs with eibach springs
h. Several Rims and Tires available (See parts list at the end of the document)
i. Wheels spacers on front (Custom Larger Ones for the Hoosier R-6 Tires will be included with those tires)
j. Mazdaspeed watt-link reinforcement bracket installed
4. Engine
a. 2 years (1full racing season and one partial) on a Street Ported 12a engine built by Adam at Rx-7 Specialties (Ceramic Apex Seals used for increased reliability & *Brand New* Aluminum Rotor Housings (Last Pair in North America supposedly))
b. Stock Intake Manifold
c. Stock Flywheel
d. Original Type Spark Plugs (NGK Platinum)
e. Front Oil Cooler relocated to accommodate the larger aluminum radiator (Mazda Speed steel braided oil cooler lines used)
f. Stock Drive Pulleys used
g. Dual Core Cross Flow Aluminum Radiator installed with custom piping (Never came close to overheating with this upgrade!)
h. Electric Cooling Fans installed that are thermostatically controlled and can be overridden with manual switch when in paddock
i. Stock Fuel Lines
j. Stock Fuel Check Valve in place

n. 2 K&N Air filters with weather stripping on top (Prevents debris from entering the engine, you have a clean filter for each day of weekend racing)

p. Battery relocated to passenger seat location to offset driver weight. Mounted in battery box
q. Stock Electrical charging system (Alternator)

u. A Carter P4594 external fuel pump is installed with a holley fuel pressure regulator mounted in the engine bay
5. Brakes
a. Stock GSL brakes used (2year old refurbished calipers)
b. Brake Modifications as follows:
c. Hawk Blue Pads front and rear
d. Steel braided brake lines installed
e. Wilwood Adjustable Brake Bias installed besides driver seat
f. Dust shield removed on front
g. Inner Plastic Fender wells remain stock
h. 3inch brake ducting routed from front bumper turn signal holes (covered in mesh) to behind the brake rotor
i. Rear brake lights and rain light operating
6. Drive Train
a. Exide racing clutch (2years old) with springs (not a solid puck)
b. 1984 GSL differential
c. Lug studs installed
d. 1984 Transmission currently installed (84 to 85 had a slightly different 2nd and 3rd gear ratios)
7. Exhaust
a. Racing Beat Header installed, no cracks or damage
b. Freshly re-welded exhaust system that extends to rear bumper (with muffler)
c. Magnaflow high flow exhaust installed
d. Pipe diameter 2-1/8” on primary tubes
8. Weight
a. The car has been stripped and has ballast weight bolted to the passenger side floor to maintain a weight slightly above the minimum 2350pound limit.
b. Ballast weight is bolted to passenger floor
9. Radio Communication, Onboard Timing & Data Acquisition
a. No communication installed
b. N/A
c. No onboard timing system installed
d. No data acquisition system installed

b. Low Oil Pressure warning light installed on dash right behind the steering wheel
c. Car has been completely stripped and re-wired from scratch to reduce weight and improve electronic reliability
d. Moroso switch panel and push button start installed

f. External battery cutoff switch installed on drivers side
g. 2 years on new Distributor cap and wires
h. Carburetor built, cleaned, and setup by Glen Nishyama (works absolutely flawlessly!)
i. Engine oil and filter change every race weekend (Oversized WIX oil filter used for extra cooling and cleaning protection
j. Opti2 Lube mixed in fuel to help with internal lubrication: additionally, stock oil injectors remain installed to help with lubrication
