Title: Question about roll cage rules
Post by: Ayeso on January 23, 2009, 01:17:48 PM
Im trying to find out if what I want to do would be deemed a invalid cage. The question I have is to do with the rear stays.

I want to add a metal plate around the shock tower, to make a more level platform to weld the rear stays to, now i cant find anything in the regs that are against this, but the rules are vague in this section the only information I can find says,

Rear stays must attach to the rear hoop no lower than 20.32 cm (8") from the top of the hoop and at an angle no steeper than 35 degrees from vertical. These rear stays must be made from a straight piece of tubing and be attached to a suitably stiff or reinforced area.

Would this image below be considered "suitably stiff or reinforced area."
