THIS DRIVING SCHOOL IS FOR LADIES ONLY! As Cindi Lauper says: "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!" Enhance your driving skills and have a blast doing it! All skill levels are welcome!

The BMW Club of Canada (BMWCC) offers many opportunities to experience the thrill of driving your own vehicle (BMW or otherwise; see Vehicle Policy) at or near the limit under safe and controlled conditions. The purpose of the BMWCC Advanced Driving Schools is to instruct students in the art of advanced driving technique. There is always more to learn and experience. Through our Advanced Driving Schools, you can expect to polish skills through excellent one-to-one in-car instruction on a closed road track. In-car instruction is supplemented by classroom sessions and specific skills are further reinforced by exercises.

This is not a racing school. The "race track" is used because it simulates a series of corners just as you might encounter in typical countryside driving but with the added benefit that it is a one-way street with controlled access. This allows for practicing advanced driving techniques without the worry of encountering oncoming vehicles driven by untrained drivers. We even have marshals on most corners to indicate with flags whether the road ahead is clear.

The bottom line is this: BMW Alberta Advanced Driving Schools provide a unique opportunity to enhance your driving technique, keep up to date with current technical information and build friendships with other like-minded enthusiasts.

VEHICLE POLICY. Cars of all makes are allowed. Convertibles, cabriolets and open-top cars by any other name are NOT permitted UNLESS they are equipped with appropriate rollover protection located DIRECTLY BEHIND both driver and passenger. Appropriate types of rollover protection include fixed roll bars, fixed roll cages, and roll bars that deploy automatically in the event of a collision or rollover. BMW and Porsche SUVs and SAVs are permitted. Trucks and all other SUVs and SAVs are not permitted.

TECHNICAL INSPECTION AND BRAKE FLUID FLUSH. A technical inspection and brake fluid flush are mandatory for the school (http://www.nabmwclub.ca/admin/inspect.pdf). You will be exploring the limits of your vehicle and putting them under greater stress compared to normal driving conditions. You should expect accelerated brake and tire wear. We require that a licensed mechanic verify that each vehicle is in suitable mechanical condition. The inspection will focus on suspension, engine and drive train, body and electrical, brakes, etc. If you arrive at the school without a completed and signed inspection form and proof of recent brake fluid flush (no older than six months), you will be turned away without a refund.

BMW CLUB MEMBERSHIP. Membership in a BMW club is mandatory. If you are not a BMW Club member, please visit your local BMW Club website to obtain a membership (eg., Northern Alberta BMW Club www.nabmwclub.ca, Southern Alberta BMW Club www.sabmwclub.com, etc.).

HELMETS. Helmets have to be SNELL 2000 or SNELL 2005 M or SA. There is a Snell sticker inside every Snell-rated helmet. Please note: DOT and ECE helmets are not acceptable. NB: If your helmet is not Snell-rated, you will not be allowed to participate. That means that you either buy a new helmet before the school or you don't get on the track. There are a VERY LIMITED NUMBER of AADS helmets to rent.
