This is an e-mail from Art MvKenzie:
Hello all,
Ric McIver has put a motion before City council to have the race track around until March of 2015. I think it's important that we rally the troops and get as many people as we can contacting their Aldermen and the Mayor to influence the vote. Some how the political side needs to understand that motorsports and a facility like ours is worthwhile for the City of Calgary.

Send my email to my Alderman er woman er questionable lineage (Fox-Mellway). Also sent one to Rick McIver thanking him for his support.
Bri.
Wrote to my alderman once again and aslo plan on calling him.
I think we should all try to call our alderperson and invite them out to the track to meet some of us and to see what this is all about. I think this would go a long way in changing the preception that we are all just a bunch of hooligans as the preception seems to be with our City Council...

But.....I like being a hooligan. Makes me feel all manly and warm inside......
I'll email and mention the buckets of out-of-town dough I leave scattered around the city.
UPDATE FROM THE RACE CITY WEBSITE:
City Council again tries to Do The Right Thing
Monday, 14 September 2009
Alderman McIver has again brought a motion before council to ask the Administration of the City to honour the existing contract with Race City. They vote on it today or tomorrow and we hope he can rally enough support get the City to do what should have been done two years ago and keep us here for at least another five years.
It seems to us that it's an easy decision to follow a contract that they wrote, signed, and have always implied was valid. Well, they are politicians so you never know what the motivation would be for not wanting to honour a contract We certainly have a bias when we look at the issue but it seems simple.
As soon as we know the results of the vote they will be published here.
UPDATE: The motion has been tabled until September 28. Who knows why. You have another couple weeks to continue to press your Aldermen to support your sport.
See the message in the General Discussion board re: Secret Street Sept 25.
