Title: Blocking vs Defending

From the Mazdaracers board:

QuoteBack in April I suggested that SCCA and especially the SM drivers follow the Indycar rule that can be paraphrased as follows

DEFENDING – you are driving defensively when you make your PROACTIVE move in anticipation of a passing attempt and commit to the line prior to the passing driver making his passing attempt
BLOCKING – you are blocking if you make your REACTIVE move in response to the passing driver making his move

I like this definition; feels sporting.  Perhaps tricky to enforce, but certainly something to aspire to.

Thoughts?
