Title: Castrol and Curbs or Kerbs or Kurbs
Post by: Al36rx7 on March 09, 2015, 12:01:59 PM
Just looking at the spring like weather here in Calgary and I wondering if anyone has a reasonably reliable source that can say whether there will be curbs at the track this year.

Thanks...

Allen

The rumor I've heard is that they will be in for the superbike weekend, if not earlier.

Sounds promising...Which of the weekends on their schedule is the Superbike weekend, or is this the first EMRA weekend that is being referred to?

I assume it would be the televised one; you know the one that always ran right after race city had the track patched and the lawn cut.  Not sure when/which it is though.

I think that might be July 10-12...Found on another website.

Canadian Superbike Championship is July 10-12.

I talked to the kerb contractor on the phone last week. He's ready to start, but has to wait for the ground to thaw. If they pour over frozen ground, the kerbs may crack & break when the ground underneath thaws and settles. Weather permitting, they'll start in early April.

real question is are they adding kerbing to the track or just to the drag pits so their golf carts don't get stuck?

Gee, I hope they make the curb on six long enough.  It's gonna be fun!

Sounds great!!  I can't wait for the kink to have about 3 or 4 ft wide curbing.

There are some pictures of the curbs going in on the NASCC facebook page.

First event is coming up on the 24th so they will be done before that.

Neat; thanks!  I also saw that the earth moving for additional paddock space has also happened.

If you look left between 4 and 5, you can see a lot of that dirt.

During the track walk, we looked over the wall in 3 and could see where the rest of the dirt went ... Ad how far back the walls will be moved there.
