Call me old, stupid, whatever, but I need help figuring out where my car will fit in these new supposedly simple rules we have adopted. I find them complicated, punitive, and I never did like the idea. That said, if CC cars finally disappear as a class in the future, I will need to class the car in PT, and do some modification. I need an expert on these "simple" rules please.

Doug should be releasing all the info you need to class your yourself in Performance Touring very shortly.... (not that you have to as CC is still exists in 2016)
But, I'm happy to help you class you car in PT.
Attached is a PT calculator,
all you have to do look up your base class and weight or take your assigned Dyno reclass power and weight and check off what you have done.
A Mazda RX-7 12A, PTG**, 2345lb (attached it the calculator for a CC car without porting, and cheap shocks)
This car is in PTF
Porting requires a power to weight re-class (assigning a new base class), I have used a 13B FB to Estimate the reclass ( 13B, PTF**, 2512lb) (attached is the Est. calculator for a CC car with porting, and cheap shocks) upto about 140 whp.

The CC cars the way they are will be slow and miserable in PTE. The class leaves room for suspension mods as well as carbs. That is where I'm not sure of some of the points factors.

While that MAYBE true. It is also true that a CC would be completely uncompetitive in STU the current alternative class. They will much closer to being competitive in PTE the in STU.
How much hp does a cc make at the wheels, and I can give you a better estimate of what options are... that said cc is still class in 2016.

Most I have ever made is 140 rear wheel hp more or less. Probably under that.

I assumed you meant you wanted to make your car faster than it is now.
The power gains from carbs would be accounted for with the dyno classing. The just take the points for whatever suspension mods you make.

Ya, the carb takes us into PTD. Hard to determine what class to go into until I see other cars in the classes.
