Good day volunteers and competitors.

We had a very productive meeting at the AGM in Winnipeg.  Good discussions and some excellent suggestions from the worker/volunteer/officials at their break out sessions.

A great amount of debt and respect goes out to all the volunteers/workers/officials for without all those volunteer's unselfish effort and support neither professional nor amateur competitors could go racing.  Thank you!

The race workshop's discussions  continued with the focus of keeping up with the ever evolving rules to improve the sport. Safety continues to be a  high profile that it deserves.

The other highlight is the active discussion about class rules.  Two highlights from my perspective:
1.Inclusion of Chump cars or similar type cars into a non-trophy class.  There will be more details on this coming forward in the next few months.
2. Spec class racing - there was a unanimous support for the push for the creation of a Mazda Miata /Mx5 Spec class. There was also minor discussion for a 2nd spec class   similar to the BMW Pro 3 spec class that is seeing 30 to 50 cars in the class at events in the NW United States.

There is a huge supply of these cars scattered around the States that are well priced. You can buy a race prepared car for the price of a major tune up on a Ferrari or Lambo. Tires and parts are far less expensive than an exotic car and you will have  a lot more fun on the race track. The highlight of a spec series is that new competitors have an instant yard stick to measure their skill level and to drastically improve their driving skills competing against drivers in like model cars.  It does not get any better than this.  It's very, very  cool and personally rewarding to be the Champion in a class of 20 cars than being the champion in a class of one car.

For these new classes to be successful the motorsport community requires a promotor. A volunteer with lots of energy and a belief that this is a worthwhile endeavour. We require people to step forward to promote these new endeavours.  I will assist any Promotor or Champion of these new classes with this task.

Every one is looking forward to the 2013 season.  It could be one of our best seasons in decades.

Congratulations  to all those award winners in 2012.

PS - It was great to see Dino Calvert and it was great to have him there providing his support and sharing his wisdom he has acquired after all his years supporting the motorsport community.
