Last Saturday at Castrol I assisted Gary Lohues with tech inspections.  I was surprised by the number of competitors who arrived with expired dates on their belts. The tech guys are already under stress trying to get the cars through as quickly as possible so the competitors can make their first practise. Yet, time and time again they had to deal with competitors with expired belts. We know some of you bought brand new belts, but they were already expired or were about to expire prior to the season. We know you got a good deal but they are not acceptable.  Please reduce the work load on these volunteers who are there to assist you & to minimize the risk in the sport.

Thank you for taking the time to make sure all your personal safety equipment is in good condition and are well within the acceptable expiry dates.

Thank you to all the volunteers who help put on events like this.

Safety is no joke, your belts , nets, cage, seat etc all form part of a larger safety system for you and other competitors. When they work together they provide the best possible chance of walking away from something as bad as this:

I like to think that the typical racer is smarter than the average person walking down the street, if you don't have attention to detail to follow simple and clearly defined rules take up golf or croquet ! Even in amateur racing bad things can happen , be safe.
