Ruth at Gee & Gee Racing has agreed to give the NASCC and ARCA Spec Miata racers an equivalent to direct from factory Canadian price for the Hoosier SM6 and Hoosier H20 spec tires in 205/50 15 for Spec Miata only of $190/each. (I believe the regular price is $247/ea).  You must identify yourself as a club member and provide her with your current and up to date membership number from either the NASCC or ARCA in order to qualify for the discount. You should give orders directly to Ruth either by calling her directly at 780-986-7223 or by emailing her at ruthgee4@hotmail.com. Ruth will then bundle the orders and manage any group discount possible by combining shipping at that time.

All other club members can order Hoosiers of any size through Gee & Gee and receive a 10% discount to retail by providing their membership information.

Hi GT,

I called Gee and Gee a few weeks back and was told in no uncertain terms that the 10% off of non SM6 tires could not be honoured.

A little bit disappointing for the rest of us, but for the Spec Miata racers an excellent discount!

The CC cars have been discussing going to Hoosiers, as the R888's are basically crap. Strikes me that if they were bundling the order, it shouldn't matter if there was more than one size...

Brooke,

I heard numerous competitors raving about the new Toyo , but they don't come in my size yet. Heard them described in between an ra1 and r6.

Also heard the new Toyo RR's were good, but also not in our size. Getting hard to get anything in 13" wheels, so we may have to change the rules to allow bigger wheels, and different tires

Well if you are looking for parts car or a donor shell I think there is an abandon one just behind the Rona on Hinshaw Drive.

Yeah, I just saw it. Don't know who owns it....looks like the oil cooler has gone.
Left a message on the windshield.

Regarding the Toyo RR...some interesting info:

Effective 1/1/2013, the Proxes RR will become the spec tire for NASA Spec Miata, Spec E30 and Spec 944 classes.

Toyo isnt supplying Canada with the RR though. We had a chat with the rep at the Cdn Autoslalom Championship at Pitt Meadows,BC. Youd have to ship them from the US or pick them up from the border...  SCCA has also added the RR as an eligible tire for National competition.  At least in the SM size, the SM6 is still a good deal through Gee and Gee.

Gee and Gee was supplying the 10pct off on Hoosiers in general to club members whereas for the SM6, Hoosier head office agreed to supply Gee an Gee with SM6s at roughly the same cost as US competitors i.e not out of Gee and Gee's pocket. Perhaps the NASCC could have a chat with Ruth Gee to see what changed re the 10pct.

I have been assured by Toyo Canada that the RR's will be available to us this coming summer. I have been asked to suggest to them how many we will need. I have also been assured that our current discount code that we use for the R888's will also be applicable to the RR, which means our price for the RR out of Calgary, for example, will be about $186.00, plus all that other crap.....environmental and GST.

Strikes me as an easier alternative to the Hoosier.

We are going ahead with our plan to change the CC tire rule to spec the RR.

RR's should be a nice improvement over the R888.  Are you going to run a different size too?  Any luck finding a larger wheel size?  Will you continue to run R888's for rain tires?
