Not a big FIA cage fan.

No dash bar required, no nascar style door bars listed, no halo type bar allowed, added bracing in the roof which is very intrusive, and impossible to weld properly without removing the roof of the car.....

Why would we abdicate our responsibility to a group of Frenchmen?  I would rather follow SCCA cage rules if we can't make our own.

I agree with you 100%. I think this is something we need to bring up at the next WCMA AGM. To me the cage rules are more geared towards the rally side of things and not for road racing.

The part about the cage welding not being possible without removing the roof is actually inaccurate. What you do is tac all the bars in place.. then drill holes in the floor of the car and lower the cage threw those holes. Then weld the upper sections. Lift the cage and slide the base plates in place. Weld those plates to both the floor and the cage. Problem solved, no roof removal required.

Personally I would be more worried about the materials required on the FIA regulations. The FIA regs call for cold drawn steel instead of standard DOM tubing. This material is not common at all in this part of the world in the sizes that we need.

Also not a huge fan of this technique, although I will accept it if done properly.  I like to mount to something a bit more substantial than the floor pan- Neons, for example, have a very sturdy area at the front edge of the floor, just as it turns up at the toe board. At the rear, I like to tie it in at the top of the sill, partly for strength, and partly to give myself enough room in the car. Can't really drop through that.

Gonna bump this one for AGM (or tech department) discussion as well.
