Castrol Concrete barriers and curbing

Hi everyone,

I  am hearing that Castrol will be doing away with most if not all the concrete barriers at the track. I also am hearing that FIA curbing will be put down for 2014 before the season starts. Can anyone please confirm this? thanks in advance.

Hi Blair,

I would be curious about your sources of information.   
Point 1. A healthy % of the concrete walls that were lining the asphalt racing surface had been moved since the 1st two race weeks.  However, as far I know there will only be a minimal alteration of the remaining walls. (A few walls maybe remove & some moved back, slightly.) I have not heard any thing different.   That doesn't mean the owners may be planning extensive Reconstruction in the future, but at this time I'm aware of only minor alterations.

Point 2.  As far as I am aware there are plans for some concrete curbing to be installed in 2014.  The owners of Castrol have been great to work with and they have worked very hard to meet & exceed the direction & recommendations from Roger Peart.  However, I'm sure the motorsport community will receive an update on this subject early in the Spring of 2014.

As far as I know the majority of the spring and summer time slots have been booked by many different motorsport groups in Alberta.  It's looking like a very positive year.   Both NASCC ( WCMA) and AADS ( BMW SA & BMW NA) have booked their annual driving school dates.
