To all,

We cannot let this anniversary pass without notation.

This is a remarkable story and one that automatically (for me) comes to mind hearing the name Gimli.

Saw the story in an episode of Mayday a couple of years ago.

CBC had a film crew at Gimli last month during the June 8,9 race weekend. They spent all day Saturday filming from various angles and track locations. They also did interviews with a few veteran Winnipeg club members who were racing back in 1983, the year that jet landed. (ie: glided) They were going for the motorsport connection to that airplane incident. (I think)

So they have the special airing on CBC Sat July 20th, but that one is only broadcast in Manitoba.

For the rest of us, you can catch an edited version on "The National" on July 22nd.

And it will also be shown in some form on both July 27th and 28th on the CBC News Net channel.

The info came to me directly from the CBC programming department. (I phoned)

PS, And thanks to whoever got my forum access enabled. :)

Cheers, Don

Channel guide shows it's on CBC News channel at 5pm today, and 4PM on Sunday.

BOTH show it to be the full hour episode.

Check it out, or record it if you can.

I recorded it today, and I'm watching it now. :)
